Database Pro App Reviews
This app crashes when attempting to import CSV data - every time!!! Data input is difficult as the “tab” function to jump to the next column does not work! No description on trouble shooting or any explanation on how to use the app at all!
Disappointing
No guidance, couldn’t figure out how to remove the tables from the database, no reply from tech support, csv. files are not imported properly.
It’s a bit rough, but it has potential. I can do basic opening of existing MDB file (and presumably ACCDB files but I haven’t tried). I can create a new MDB file, and define new tables. I can enter data. I can search on that data. My issues with the app, however, range from minor things like — the “New Database” button, should really just be accessed through the “File->New” menu (and the File->New menu item shoudn’t be greyed out), to important features being missing, like the ability to CHANGE a table definition after it’s been created (to be able to create a new table, but then not change it is a real pain!). And then, some features are just clunky. The CSV data import features works, but is hard to use (please just make it work like like Excel’s CSV import). Some features I personally don’t find very valuable, like the MapView and HTMLView and WebServe. I don’t happen to need those features. My data doesn’t have geographic coordinates, and I don’t need to publish my data to the web, though I understand other people’s needs may differ. If I were the developer, I would focus on shoring up the data entry, data import, and database management aspects of the application, as well as the overall usability of the existing features of the app, before adding more data visualization features. I can export the data to Excel and create pretty charts and graphs. I dont, however, have many alternatives to reading and editing ACCDB/MDB data files or relational data in general.
terrible
Does not allow the ability to create queries
This does not seem to be the be all and end all app for working with ACCESS databases that it claims. Eventhough it doesn’t say anything about not working with password protected files, it doesn’t. They now added sentence to description saying that even if files are not password protected they may be encrypted, which also won’t work but tells how to un-encrypt them (still not actually saying anything about password protection being a problem). We were able to open database with the program after removing password protection and encryption but it was not a functional database. You could see the different components that made up the database but it clearly couldn’t handle database with multiple components and couldn’t use as needed to. Their website for support wouldn’t really connect except to be able to see some promos for their stuff and the youtube video was only basic showing computer mouse clicking on various things to elevator music. That’s not a how to video. A how to video actually talks you through the steps and tells you what you’re looking at. User manual just as uninformative. One of the makers did email me back quickly to explain the password protection and encryption problems that let me at least open the file but then it was clear that this product wasn’t as good as they claim.
Tried setting up a database every time I say a column is a number field, it changes it to text anyways when created and no way to change once created tried emailing support still waiting for respons 1 1/2 weeks later save your money
Not Worth The Money
If you only want to view Microsoft Access files this might be fine. Does not work to create files very well as has limited character types.
I would not recommend purchasing the full version of this software. It works *okay* on a very basic level, but editing tables once you’ve set them up, adding information to tables, removing and organizing…basically everything you would actually use this for is wonky. Really, though, the tables are the worst feature. You can’t edit the column names (which sometimes appear out of order or without the names you assigned to them ((‘Column13’ instead of ‘Calgari Score,’ for example))) and once you’ve got a table that didn’t completely trip on its face on its way out of the gate, the data-entry is time consuming as all get out (there is no tabbing over to the next section; entering information requires double-clicking or single-clicking on every single column you want to add to). There is no user assistance available. Opening the ‘user guide’ will reveal a few images that label the already labeled options in the software—there are no tips, tricks, or further information about how to actually use anything. The softare designer’s website claims to have additional help pages available, but the support links do not work. If it were an option, I would uninstall this and put the $30 I spent on it towards software that…y’know…works. Since that’s not an option, I’ll just post this review and keep looking elsewhere. Good luck to the rest of you :)
There are several issues with this application. The worst being that it crashes very frequently when trying to make simple data changes in a record, or table. You get a text box that pops up saying the application had to close for technical reasons, to that effect. It saves a portion of the table but the data is missing even in the part that it saved. Next, the tables are not editable once you create them. The only way to make a change is to create a new table with same name. The Import CVS option returns scrambled jargon in a red text field. NO technical descriptions to help. Cant change title bar text among other qwerky ever-changing screen colors in text areas, etc. Text color and background colors arbitrarily change for no reason with no way to change the color due to it locks up the color wheel. Only way out is to close the database and reload. Crashes again. This is a very unstable product and should be removed from the App Store. I really was hoping for a usable and great database. Not here!! I have requested a refund. Hope Apple backs up their name on this.
Doesnt work with SQL tables
Doesnt work with SQL tables. All tables are empty
Remarkable App
This a remarbable, well written app. I don't know how it was years ago so I can't related to some of the older comments, however, today it is a realiable way of viewing and editing data in a Microsoft Access file on a Mac. It provides tables, forms and other views. It is a real help. Thank you!
Not what it says it is
I don't recommend this and wish I hadn't purchased it. It does nothing more than take a function database from access and turns it into an excel file but an excel file is actually easier to work with. It was a waste of good money.
Worthless and Horrible!
I don't recommend this app at all! I got trouble reading table as the columns of the imported table messed up. It also causes problem for any export data!!!!!!! Please don't buy it!
Waste of Money
This app is horrible. So limited and basic.
Waste of Money
This application is completely useless without the query function. Don’t waste your money.
TERRIBLE - I WANT MY MONEY BACK
When I opened the app initially, I thought it looked great. However, I soon realized after spending $19.99 that I was unable to run a query … which was the main point of my purchase as I had a homework assignment that required students to run a query on a database. Not only could I not run the query, the data from the sample database would not display correctly in the application and some of the features would not display correctly either. Way too much to spend and I will likely never use it again. Let the buyer beware on this one.
Can’t handle simple tasks
I have an access database with two tables, a query and a form. The program brought in the tables but not the query or the form linked to the query so it was rather useless to me. I uninstalled it within 10 minutes of trying it.
